Purdys Chocolatier takes home the Bronze Product of the Year Award for their Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramels. They competed as a finalist at the Product of the Year competition where they wowed the judges with their innovative vegan caramels. Product of the Year is BCFB’s flagship award where the winners are selected through a panel of judges. At the competition, the finalists prepared and showcased their products and have time to answer the judges’ questions about their product up for the award.

“We’re so proud to be recognized alongside such wonderful, up and coming companies based in BC. Purdys is well over a hundred years old and we first started right here in Vancouver, BC. This award is a great sign that we are not just keeping up with the times but continuing to innovate in the food and confectionary space,” says Rachel McKinley, Master Chocolatier at Purdys Chocolatier.

Purdys Chocolatier’s Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramels have a perfectly chewy vegan caramel centre, covered in either their Vegan Mylk Chocolate or Vegan Dark Chocolate and topped with Hawaiian Black Salt.

“Installing a dedicated vegan line in our Factory Kitchen to help make chocolates for a whole new group of customers was a true exercise in teamwork. It brought our whole Purdys team together in new ways to reach our goal – which is always bringing great, sustainable chocolate to our customers,” shares Rachel McKinley.

“This award really belongs to everyone at Purdys, and we are super proud to share it with all team members—from the candy makers who cook the caramels to the team who enrobes, decorates and packs the caramels, our retail, marketing and design team who help bring the experience to our customers.”
